Welcome to Cortier AI! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Cortier AI application and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Cortier AI, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), a California limited liability company.


By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility


You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are 18 years of age or older. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account and delete their data.

2. Account Registration


To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information

  • Maintain the security of your account credentials

  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

  • Accept responsibility for all activity under your account

3. Description of Service


Cortier AI provides an AI-powered personal assistant that learns about you through conversation. Key features include:

  • Conversational AI: Adaptive, personalized AI interactions

  • Moments: AI-generated reflections based on your conversations, displayed in a feed

  • Calendar & Notifications: Personalized reminders and scheduling

  • Memory & Cognition: The AI retains information from your conversations to improve personalization over time

3.1 AI Disclosure


You are interacting with an artificial intelligence system, not a human being. Cortier AI uses large language models to generate responses. All content generated by Cortier AI is artificially generated.

3.2 Free Service & Future Changes


The Service is currently provided free of charge during beta. We reserve the right to introduce paid features or subscription plans in the future. We will notify you before any changes to pricing take effect.

4. AI-Generated Content

4.1 No Professional Advice


Cortier AI is not a licensed professional in any field. Content provided by the Service does not constitute and should not be relied upon as:

  • Medical, health, or mental health advice

  • Legal advice

  • Financial or investment advice

  • Professional advice of any kind


Always consult qualified professionals for important decisions.

4.2 Accuracy


AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. We do not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any AI-generated content. You acknowledge that AI systems can produce errors or "hallucinations."

4.3 Moments


The AI may generate "Moments" — reflections written from the AI's perspective about your interactions. Moments are AI interpretations, not factual reports. They may be inaccurate or based on AI misunderstandings. They are visible only to you unless you choose to share them, and you may delete them or disable the Moments feature at any time.


Moments are not psychological analysis or therapy. Do not rely on them for important decisions about your life, relationships, or health. If AI-generated reflections cause you distress, disable the feature and consider speaking with a professional.

5. User Content & Data

5.1 Your Content


You retain ownership of the content you submit to the Service ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, store, and modify your content solely for the purpose of providing, operating, and improving the Service. We will not use your content to train AI or machine learning models without your explicit consent.

5.2 Prohibited Content


You agree not to submit content that:

  • Is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or harassing

  • Promotes violence, self-harm, or suicide

  • Contains sexually explicit material involving minors

  • Infringes on intellectual property rights

  • Attempts to manipulate, jailbreak, or misuse the AI system

  • Impersonates another person

5.3 Content Moderation


We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Third-Party AI Services


Cortier AI uses third-party AI model providers to generate AI responses. Your conversation data may be processed by these providers solely to generate responses on our behalf. We have entered into data processing agreements with our providers that prohibit them from using your data to train their models. See our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Our Property


The Service, including its design, features, code, and branding, is owned by Cortier AI, LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except as needed to use the Service.

7.2 AI-Generated Content


Content generated by the AI in response to your inputs is provided for your personal use. You may use AI-generated content for lawful purposes, but you acknowledge that similar content may be generated for other users.

7.3 Copyright Complaints (DMCA)


We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to our designated agent:


Your notice must include: (a) identification of the copyrighted work, (b) identification of the infringing material, (c) your contact information, (d) a statement of good faith belief, and (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate. We will respond to valid notices in accordance with the DMCA.

8. Safety Protocols


We implement content safety measures including automated content filtering, detection of crisis indicators, and referral to crisis services. These measures are designed to prevent the generation of content that promotes suicide, self-harm, or other harmful behaviors.


However, these systems are not perfect. We cannot guarantee 100% detection of harmful content or crisis situations. The AI may fail to recognize indirect or coded language.


Do not rely on Cortier AI for mental health emergencies. If you or someone you know is in crisis, immediately contact:

9. Service Availability


We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control, including natural disasters, network failures, or third-party service outages.

10. Disclaimers


THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Beta Notice: The Service is currently in beta. Features may be incomplete, unstable, or changed without notice. We are not liable for data loss, service interruptions, or other issues during the beta period.

11. Limitation of Liability


TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CORTIER AI, LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.


This limitation does not apply to: (a) claims under California privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA) for statutory damages; (b) claims arising from our willful misconduct or fraud; (c) claims arising from a data breach caused by our failure to implement reasonable security measures; or (d) any other claims where liability cannot be limited by law.

12. Indemnification


You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cortier AI, LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party. You will have no obligation to indemnify us from liability arising from our own action or inaction.

13. Termination


We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service ceases immediately

  • We will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy

  • Provisions that by their nature should survive (disclaimers, limitations, indemnification, dispute resolution) will survive termination

14. Changes to Terms


We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

15. Dispute Resolution

15.1 Informal Resolution


Before filing a formal dispute, you agree to contact us at support@cortier.ai and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

15.2 Binding Arbitration


PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.


If informal resolution fails, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitration will be conducted in Sacramento County, California, or remotely if agreed by both parties.


Class Action Waiver: You and Cortier AI, LLC each waive any right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, consolidated arbitration, or any other representative proceeding. All disputes must be brought solely in your individual capacity.


Exceptions: Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court. Either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in court to prevent imminent harm or for intellectual property disputes.


Opt-Out: You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing support@cortier.ai with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" and your name and account email. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the courts described in §15.4.


Costs: Arbitration costs are governed by the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules.

15.3 Governing Law


These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.

15.4 Jurisdiction (Non-Arbitrated Claims)


For any disputes not subject to arbitration, the parties consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in Sacramento County, California.

16. General Provisions


  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Cortier AI, LLC.

  • Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

  • Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver.

  • Assignment: You may not assign these Terms. We may assign our rights and obligations in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, and will provide reasonable notice of any such material change in ownership.
